Knowledge is Power

It is no secret of mine that I enjoy a good book, and luckily that is a trait that my daughter seems to have too – proud Momma! Knowledge is power, and if you’re trying to get healthy and want to be successful then baby pick up a book! Below I am listing out 3 of my favorite books that involve health.

  • The Body Book: The Law of Hunger, the science of strength, and other ways to love your amazing body
    By Cameron Diaz with Sandra BarkI’ll be honest with you dolls, because that’s just how I am, this book is not the most entertaining. However, it is filled with significant information that is broken into three categories: Nutrition, Fitness and The Mind. If you like to learn and widen your vocabulary, then you would enjoy this book. You can also get it on audio which makes it a little easier! If you don’t care about learning the technical terms and knowing the science of why but just want to know what to do, then see book 2.
  • Skinny Bitches
    By Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin

    This book had me laughing out loud a few times. I am not sure if it is because they have my “I’m not sugar coating anything” attitude but I found this book easy to read and intriguing. If you haven’t guessed it by the title, these girls are a bit vulgar but even though they have a mouth like a sailor they certainly did their research. They are vegans, and a lot of people become vegan after reading it. Although some of the information is disturbing and downright disgusting, I couldn’t make that change. I read this book about a year and a half ago, and since then I have started to clean my meat better and lowered my consumption of animal meat by learning other sources for amino acids and protein. They open the curtain to factory farms and also go into detail about the myths of carbs, proteins and so much more. I really must say, that this is a MUST read!
  • Reshaping It All (Motivation for Physical and Spiritual Fitness)
    By Candace Bure with Darlene SchachtThis book is also on audio and is read by Candace herself. In this book, she walks you through her struggle with bulimia and how she overcame her disease with God by her side. Along with her tips, she shares recipes and fun related stories about her life. If you are religious and a fan of Candace’s then I suggest this book. If you are not a fan of hers, then you might find yourself annoyed with some of her stories, and if you do not live your life with the Lord as your savior, then I obviously do not recommend this.
